if it says ef or efs on the front of the lense, then yes
if it says fd, then no

it is pretty good. The xsi is my first dslr. I love it. You can set it to full auto, half auto(TV, P, AV, )
or full manual(M).
I got it last month with a 55-250mm lens.

this camera looks beautiful. i’m just getting into photography and i’m not decided whether to get this of the Nikon D40. I will not be getting the Rebel XS, since it seems impossible to get hold of it with IS (here in the UK at least).

these may seem like weird question to hardened photographers reading this but can anyone answer these questions on the 450D:

1) is it possible to power the camera via usb?
2) can the battery be charged by plugging the camera into USB.
3) and can the camera act as a “webcam” by pluging it into a PC?

You should get Rebel XSi because it is smaller but just as good as a profesional camera. Now the D40 is more of Nikon’s lower end SLR’s so hope that helps!

more megapixels doesnt mean better quality.
